SCRAMBLING

SCRAMBLING

Scrambling fits in somewhere between walking and climbing. Not as difficult as rock climbing, but requiring the use of your hands some of the time, the idea is to find rocky ridges, buttresses or gullies which are sufficiently easy angled and well enough supplied with holds to allow everyone to move together, unroped for all or the majority of the time. Sometimes a short steeper section may have to be rope protected. Some of the classic Lake District scrambles include Jack's Rake on Pavey Ark in Langdale, Striding Edge on Helvellyn and Sharp Edge on Blencathra. A tougher example would be Pinnacle Ridge on St Sunday Crag.

scramblingScrambling is a great way to climb a mountain - more interesting than walking, but not as tough, and without the equipment required for rock climbing.

We offer scrambling for groups in the Lake District and also for groups in North Wales and Scotland, where places such as Glencoe and Skye are renowned for their scrambles.

You don't need any previous experience to try Scrambling, and half-day scrambles are available. A great activity for groups of walkers wanting to try something a little more challenging.
