CANOEING IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
Canoeing in the Lake District is great fun, especially in the Canadian Canoes used during our activity sessions. You wouldn't believe how many different directions two people can paddle a canoe in!
Great for getting people to work together and providing a healthy upper body workout, canoeing sessions are supervised by a safety boat, and you are always accompanied by an instructor who can not only provide expert advice, but who can also perform any emergency procedures which might be required such as righting a capsized canoe - though this is quite rare.
Our canoeing sessions generally take place on Ullswater, arguably our most beautiful lake. With buoyancy aids provided, and changing and toilet facilities available on site, the activity can be carried out in comfort and safety.
Sessions are tailored to your group, but can include paddling gently around the lake margin taking in the views and the wildlife, undertaking a one-way trip down the lake which feels very adventurous, or you can have a race - racing around one or more of the islands is great fun. You can often also paddle up the river which flows into Ullswater, providing more of a test of your ability to control the canoe.
We also offer canoe/camping/mountain walking trips to Scotland, where you can canoe into some of the most remote areas of Britain, camp on breathtaking lochside beaches and enjoy some fantastic mountain walks.
