SKI AND SNOWMOBILE FINLAND

SNOWMOBILING IN FINLANDSKI AND SNOWMOBILE HOLIDAYS FOR GROUPS IN FINLAND

Close to the Arctic Circle and the Russian border, Finnish Lapland is truly a stunning location, perfect for a group adventure.

You can ski through the trees on curving, floodlit runs until the evening or enjoy some invigorating cross country trails.

Snowmobiling is also an unmissable activity. Snowmobile hire is easy - you just need to be over 18 and have a driving license. A training session along some of the local forest tracks and over a few kilometres of frozen lake prepares you for the 120km ride to Kuntavaara - a lonely hilltop overlooking the Russian border. the scenery is stunning - you can see for miles and miles across the frozen Taiga, trees and ice covered lakes go as far as the eye can see. A teepee styled hut provides a fire, some welcome warmth and the opportunity to cook some warm food.

On the return you can experience the haunting light of the 'blue hour' before driving back to base in the dark under your snowmobile's headlights. If you're lucky you might also see the Northern Lights. It's a magnificent day, led by one of the Ruka Guides.

Other activities include Husky Safaris and Reindeer Driving, Ice Fishing, Sledging and Wilderness Nordic Skiing. We can even arrange for you to build an igloo or sculpt your own ice.

In summer, you can enjoy some fantastic trips in Canadinan Canoes, Fish and Wild Camp for a true back to nature experience.

In December and January the days are very short, but this does not really affect the enjoyment of the activities, whilst from mid February onwards the days really start to draw out. The summer season starts later in May, though the skiing often lasts well into June!

Accommodation is plentiful and not too expensive. We can arrange trips for any period 2 days upwards, with any combination of activities. Simply let us know duration and dates, numbers of participants and we'll provide a range of options for you to consider, with no obligation.
