The world is packed with great places for adventures and I have chosen four locations which offer superb outdoor activities with relative ease of access, and which are suitable for beginners or those with some previous experience.
Andalucia in Spain has great weather, spectacular scenery, wonderful beginners climbing and some thrilling new Via Ferrata (protected scrambles). The beer and tapas is pretty good as well! Accessible for short breaks or longer holidays via Malaga.
The Dolomites are one of the most spectacular parts of the Alps, and they provide excellent mountain walking along with their famous Via Ferrata - the protected scrambling routes suitable for beginners, which offer the thrills and views associated with rock climbing but without the technical difficulty and with minimum equipment
Finnish Lapland is really different and very special. In winter you can ski under floodlights and ride snowmobiles along exciting tracks to the Russian border. In summer, it is transformed from a winter wilderness into a summer paradise of forests and lakes, with canoeing, walking and camping offering a chance to get close to nature.
Lake Garda is surrounded by magnificent scenery which offers walking, rock climbing, via ferrata and mountain biking of the highest calibre - perfect for a multi-active break.
