 | Deer Watch guided walks take place in the Lake District valley of Martindale - reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, with it's herds of Red Deer and sense of remoteness. Despite this - it's only 25 minutes from junction 40 of the M6!
Approximately 600-700 Red Deer roam wild on the fells around Martindale - the biggest herds in England and a spectacular sight. | The best time to see the deer is from April to November. In the spring and early summer the deer descend from the mountains in the evening to graze the valley fields, and in the autumn, the valley resonates with prehistoric sounding roars of the stags as they lock antlers for supremacy and the right to mate. The Deer Watch guided walks are very gentle and last approximately 2 hours. They are led by John White, former Lake District National Park Ranger. |  |
