The Lake District was the birthplace of rock climbing as a sport in Britain (the pinnacle known as Napes Needle pictured below was first climbed in 1886) -so it is only fitting that this activity should be available. However, rock climbing is nowhere near as strenuous, dangerous and physical as many people would have you believe - it all depends on the type of route you are climbing. | | | We offer a wide range of route choices, from easy beginners climbs through to routes which would challenge an expert. Our climbing instructors ensure not only that the activity is safe, but that the climbs are appropriate for every participant. On many of the climbs, balance and flexibility are more important than strength, and our instructors will pass on a selection of techniques which will really help you. | Our equipment is modern and safe, and we even supply specialist rock climbing shoes to make the experience easier and more enjoyable. You'll be shown how to put on your harness correctly and tie the crucial knots, and at every stage, an expert will be on hand to check that everything is correct. |
|
| Our unique skill in rock climbing is to match participants with climbs which are suitable for them. There are many other excellent climbing areas in Britain such as the Peak District, Cornwall, Devon, Yorkshire, South Wales, North Wales and the Scottish Highlands | We'll make sure you are given lots of positive encouragement, and we'll also show you the equipment and explain how it works, giving you more confidence. |
